Taking Too Long To Adjust Your Mind? Here Is The Tip!

Does it take you a long time to adjust your mind? Here are some tips to help overcome this obstacle:

Meditation Tip: How to reduce the time to adjust your mind

  • Think of the center of the body often, in a relaxed and comfortable manner. Think of it all the time, even outside of the meditation session. Nurture your attention there until it feels that your mind is “stuck” there.
  • When you are recollecting the center of the body, do not worry whether the meditation image is clear or not, Just feel the center continuously, more naturally. Gradually the image will become clearer by itself. Observe it continuously, comfortably, practice until you can see it equally clear whether your eyes are open of closed.
  • When speaking imagine that your voice is emanating from the center of your body.
  • In the beginning, stilling the mind is quite difficult, so you should be patient, take it easy, just wait happily. Continuously still the mind softly at the center of the body.

Nice Tips!, they really work.

One more tip!, make a mantra for yourself; it can be anything; a word, two words or maybe a complete sentence.

Cheers! PIPO

Regarding the first tip, I think of the center of my body several times a day, especially when I wake up. It has been a great and rewarding exercise, that helps me renew and be conscious of this warm and happy feeling during all day long :)

I really recommend this :D

Dear María Luz,

It's very nice that you try the exercise. We call it "meditating when our eyes are opened". This will help you preserve our inner peace between meditation sessions and you don't need to restart every time you close your eyes and meditate.

Talking about activities to do during the day, I think this could be useful in this topic:

The 10 homework assignments:

  1. Make the effort to see the virtues in yourself and others. Congratulate others on their virtues and give them the opportunity to congratulate you on yours
  2. Keep daily notes of your meditation experiences in a diary;
  3. Before going to sleep, recollect the good deeds you have done throughout the day;
  4. Center your mind before falling asleep;
  5. Upon waking, immediately reconnect your attention with the center of the body;
  6. Before getting up, take a minute to recollect that you are lucky to be alive and remind yourself that you will surely die one day in the unknown future. Spread love and kindness to all living beings throughout the world;
  7. Throughout the day, create a feeling that you are united with the mental meditation object(eg. sun or moon) at the centre of the body;
  8. Take one minute of every hour to still your mind and think of the mental object at the center of the body;
  9. Recollect the mental object at the center of the body while conducting other activities throughout the day; whether that be brushing your teeth, standing around, showering, driving, exercising, etc.;
  10. Smile and speak in an endearing way;

Thanks for the tips. Today I was "meditating with opened eyes" for many parts of the day and then my meditation session was a healing experience! It really helps to feel and keep the connection with the center. I am really enjoying this!

Muchas gracias!

We meditate with our eyes closed, we sit down, relax, close the eyes and connect with our center While doing other things ( like working, commuting, talking to people ) we can bring the mind to the center, be mindful, keep a clear and pure mind It is one example of meditating with open eyes

Hi, I can feel the center of my body but sometimes I lose, My biggest problem is with the position of the legs which put me to sleep, what I can do?????

Dear Blanca,

You can sit on a chair of course if sitting on the floor hurts your leg. Loosing the center is OK as you are still new to meditation. It's like when you were learning English, you might sometimes accidentally speak some Spanish words, which got mixed into the sentence. The only thing I can say is "practice makes perfect".

... Believe in yourself ...

Dear Jeisson,

Being in the space and observing a white dot is a very good experience. But you shouldn't expect for it as if you could still enjoy watching the sky during the night whether or not the full moon is shinning. By developing this contentment, your meditation will be continuously improved. I'm sure about that :)
