Moon Fest - Join The Tide Of Peace ... December 2nd, 2009

Pure and bright and in the company of stars, the light of the moon is the signal for peace rebels around the world to share the light of peace.  Whenever we look up into the night sky, let the moon be our reminder to shine the light of peace from the origin of peace - our Peace Point…When we bring and share peace to the world from this special place, a phenomenal thing will happen…What lies before us and what lies behind us are small matters compared to what lies within us. And when we bring what is within out into the world, miracles happen*.

Peace Revolution’s Full Moon Silent Party got an upgrade, now we celebrate MOONFEST! From December 2009, we will meet not only once, but FOUR times during the lunar cycle.

Let’s celebrate MOONFEST together in December 2009.

When:              Full Moon – Merry Moon – 2nd December

3rd Quarter – Snoozy Moon – 10th December

New Moon – Dreamy Moon – 16th December

1st Quarter – Wakening Moon – 24th December

Full Moon  - Merry Moon – 31st December

(Because there are 2 full moons in December, we’ll meet 5 times during the month )

Time:   GMT 13:00

The calculated time in your country can be found on this link, http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?month=12&day=2&year=2009&hour=20&min=0&sec=0&p1=28

Where:  ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, you can follow the live guided session led by an experienced Buddhist monk by clicking on,http://www.peacerevolution2010.org/docs/en/peace-revolution-channel

The live meditation session will be broadcast via internet at GMT 13:00, but this might be impractical in some areas so we propose you host your MOONFEST at the most convenient time for you. This means that the Peace Revolution Crew will provide on-demand guided meditation for you on this link, http://www.peacerevolution2010.org/docs/en/peace-video

YOU CAN INVITE YOUR FAMILY, COLLEAGUES, FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTANCES TO JOIN MOONFEST WITH YOU!  Send us your pictures in the ‘peace position’ and we might send you a Peace Revolution T-shirt.  Use your talents, draw pictures of your meditation experiences, share it with fellow peace lovers, and peace rebels, write to us your experience during MOONFEST.

Waves are all around us, even if we do not see or sense them!  A wave is the transfer or energy beginning from a source, a single point.  We have discovered so many different types of waves, sound waves, light waves, water waves, radio waves, standing waves,  microwaves, seismic waves, gravitational waves and even…shock waves!  At the peace revolution we are interested in creating PEACE WAVES! When our mind is still, and when we share peace from within we create waves of peace, a powerful transfer energy from the point or source of peace…also known as, the center of our body.  Waves grow larger, intensify, swell, they deepen and become very potent…This is an amazing fact, because waves like these start from only the slightest most subtle effort.  So too the WAVES OF PEACE will spread far and wide and encompass all of the earth and bring a tide of peace that will reach everyone, everywhere…THIS, from only the softest, most gentle and subtle effort at the point where peace originates.

To find the inner peace within yourself, start by sitting in a comfortable position in a place with no distractions. Rest your mind in the most comfortable place inside your body. Start uniting body and mind, and just relax and enjoy the feeling of letting go.

Sometimes life can feel like a hurricane, everything around us is just chaos, turmoil, disorder and confusion. But inner peace means, that within all the movement and chaos, you can find stillness. Very much like the EYE of the storm, where there is a great calm. To have inner peace doesn't mean that you'll never have a problem to confront, it means that when you have those problems coming up, you go within and find a stillness, a refuge or a sanctuary inside yourself. What is truly wonderful about this stillness is that it cannot be destroyed or altered by any of life's circumstances or conditions...it is your true refuge. It is a way of being, and a way of thinking. It is always there, and it has ALWAYS been there. It is who you are…IT IS AS SIMPLE as just being aware of it...

It is only through inner peace, the source of peace that world peace can be created.  When we truly wish and dream of a world of peace

we’ll start at the point which has the most power

 the center of the body

the point of peace.

Questions for the Q&A Session with Venerable Joshua,

  1. What other ways are there to find peace within, other than meditation?
  2. There is a belief that an 'empty mind' is someon who is unintelligent, how would you respond to a statement like that?

Another question, How was meditation 'invented'? I mean, how did the practice of meditation come about?

Another question for the live session, I've heard of contemplation since I started meditating. How is contemplation different from meditaiton? Do the two support each other, or not?

Submitted on 2 Dec 2009 08:46 from Ariya App

Rogers Bakkabulindi

MEDITATION gives the message of vastness. In meditation one relaxes the mind. There is no object in meditation. That would be contemplation. Thoughts, images and other sensations may enter your mind, but you will pay no attention to them. The point in meditation is to gain control of your mind, by ignoring all the whirling gears that fly around within it. The meditation technique that I use, is to focus in the center of my body the point of peace and to completely disregard the objects of my consciousness. This isn't easy. The mind likes to be in control, so when you try to meditate, the mind will conjure up all manner of mental phenomena to distract you. But if you can focus in the center of the body the point of peace for about 2 minutes when you sit to control your mind in stillness, rather than allowing the mind to lead you around and when you use this technique you discover that the mind can become a most obedient and efficient tool.

WHILE AS

CONTEMPLATION gives the message of inseparable oneness. In contemplation, one takes an object or principle, and one focuses upon it. Your concentration becomes immersed in the object of contemplation, until you become one with it. Images, ideas and thoughts concerning what you are contemplating, come to your mind, revealing its true nature. Contemplation is a great tool for discovering truth.

As we Bhutanese believe that the Full Moon day is auspicious day which is good to accumulate double the merit for good deeds, I have observed the day without eating meat and fish that came directly from ones life. This is the sign that one respects others life.

However, joining the hands with MoonFest, I have sat before the midnight when the moon was young enough. Attached here are the some of pictures along with my friend.

Yesterday was the 10th time Peace Revolution had a meditation on the full moon day to share IP from within, and I was thinking to myself yesterday, its as though the Full Moon Silent Party graduated to become MoonFest! :-) I'm really looking forward to Snoozy Moon on the 10th.

The LIVE session was really cool with LP Josh, and the Q&A session was very interesting. Thanks LP for answering my questions.

Some questions for Snoozy Moon Q&A,

  1. I know some long distance runners, they tell me when they run for a long time they reach a state of clarity, a kind of super focus, and also they do not feel their body, or the pain in their body from the running. Is this similar to the state of clarity one can reach in meditaiton? How are they the same, or how are they different?

  2. Can only humans meditate, are there other living beings that can meditate, eg animals?

Tomorrow is dreamy moon! I look forward to the live session on the Peace Revolution Channel, same time GMT 13:00. I hope to see many peace rebels and peace agents online.

What I love about MoonFest is the feeling of unity with all the other peace rebels in the world. Its amazing to know that we are all stilling the mind together and sharing the light of peace as one.

Although world peace seems like an impossible task sometimes(especially when I watch the news)...I know that it starts from only a tiny point in me.
SMALL THINGS BECOME GREAT THINGS, when we do it the right way. So also, inner peace will become world peace when we do it together.

I salut PEACE REVOLUTION!

I would like to ask the teaching monk(will it be Venerable Joshua), what do you do when it feels like your inner peace time practice is not progressing, or progressing very little? Is it an indication of doing something wrong? or is this normal, and just part of the process?

I'd also like to ask if we can have an installment of the teaching of the 5 rooms in every MoonFest session? Maybe we could start with the bedroom tomorrow, and follow on the other rooms for the Wakening Moon session and the next Merry Moon session.

Peace Rebels, tomorrow is awakening moon!

The minds of many have already been exposed to inner peace. It is possible that people everywhere could come down with inner peace in epidemic proportions if we share peace together!

Join moonfest tomorrow and share inner peace together. The live session will be broadcast from the Peace Revolution Channel GMT 13:00, and you can see the time in your country by clicking on the Awakening moon icon(24 Dec).

Once in a blue moon...

Today is full moon, the second Merry Moon for Moonfest in December 2009. A blue moon is considered a very rare lunar phenomenon, and I think its super special that we have a blue moon on the first month we started Moonfest together. Moreover, a blue moon falls on new year's even only once every twenty years.
This is the perfect way to start 2010, the year of the Peace Revolution. See you about an hour for Merry Moon. PIPO
