PIPO Experience Of Peace Rebel Solony From Uganda

It all began online when I was reading some stories on the internet and I saw this website of Peace Revolution. Reading through it, I saw this meditation part, which confused me, but I tried hard to understand it and I saw that it was helpful when someone practices it. I started doing it on my own until I got the chance to attend the East African Fellowship in Nairobi. With 16 people from different nationalities, yet all of us hard one mission to know what meditation means to one's life and to find our INNER PEACE. The retreat brought us together although we were from different countries, backgrounds and religions but we were all looking at one thing "INNER PEACE".

During those three days of the retreat I learned so many things; that we can usually live a simple life without phones, computers, not to waste food, to love one another in our societies, not to waste time on useless things and always focus our minds on what we're doing ..Everybody was supportive, caring and friendly!! Getting to know each other and questioning each other what experience we've had from the retreat and also exchanging moments of Inner Peace.

The idea of the retreat was to create time for our minds to be free from the technologies, loud places like towns and cars, to get away from the stressing things at our work places, homes and other things. Like this we give ourselves time to find who we are inside us and also know who other people of different backgrounds because.

It was my very first time to meet with the Monk Luang Phi Pasura and I considered myself lucky for having had that chance. He is an inspiring person. It was really wonderful time when I was ‘googling’ the Monk and found that he is a free person to everybody! Meditating for about 2 hours is something which really helps and hearing from the Monk that he can meditate for more than 2 hours is someone I hope that I can get one day. The more consistently I did it, the better I got at it and the more benefits I could feel. Another inspiring person is this lady Aya! She will always be a light in the center where I lit my light too because of her encouragement. I managed to be brave and inspire others who thought I had changed my religion to Buddhism. Now everybody sees me in a positive way because it helped me to let go of my past and the hurt I had in my heart. I never let negativity occupy my mind because I always want to be at Peace with myself and other people.

Therefore, as human beings we all want to be happy and free from misery. We have learned that the key to happiness is inner peace. The greatest obstacles to inner peace are disturbing emotions such as anger, attachment, fear and suspicion, while love and compassion and a sense of universal responsibility are the sources of peace and happiness. So if you're looking for inner peace from the outside world, you're not going to get that. Inner peace starts with looking at yourself from the inside. Understanding that everything that comes to you is what you are. Everything from friends to boyfriends to the job you get - it's all a direct reflection of what you are on the inside. Therefore when you've seen beyond yourself, then you may find, peace of mind is waiting there.

Always stay Sabai.
